TennCare. The DBM will also pay provider claims and provide member and outreach services.
“TennCare looks forward to this new partnership which will allow children on TennCare to continue to receive quality dental care while saving state dollars,” said TennCare Director Darin Gordon. “This is especially important in today’s economic times when more and more families rely on government assistance, and we will make sure our enrollees continue to receive care during the transition to this new dental network.”
Delta Dental, along with five other competitors, presented proposals for the contract through the competitive bid process. The state issued a request for proposal on May 27, 2010, and the six competitors sent in their proposals on June 8, 2010. Delta Dental was the most competitive bidder, achieving the highest overall score and was awarded the three-year contract with two, optional one-year renewable periods. The value of the new contract over the three-year period is approximately $11.9 million assuming today’s enrollment numbers remain the same over the three-year period. Delta will assume DBM responsibilities October 1, 2010.

Senate Democrats Hope to Break GOP Filibuster over Jobless Benefits
Senate Democrats are hoping to break a Republican filibuster today and approve extending unemployment benefits to millions of out-of-work Americans. If the Democrats secure enough votes, about 2.5 million people will receive jobless benefits retroactively, instead of being dropped from the federal program. On Monday, President Obama demanded the Senate take action.
President Obama: "It’s time to stop holding workers laid off in this recession hostage to Washington politics. It’s time to do what’s right, not for the next election, but for the middle class. We’ve got to stop blocking emergency relief for Americans who are out of work. We’ve got to extend

benefits in a manner that insures an adequate network of dentists will provide quality, cost-effective care to more than 730,000 children on
unemployment insurance. We need to pass those tax cuts for small businesses and the lending for small businesses." Democracynow.org
Did BP Free the Lockerbie Bomber?
Sen Frank Lautenberg has called for an investigation into whether BP lobbied the British government to prematurely release Abdel Basset al Megrahi, convicted of the bombing of Pan Am flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland as a way to get access to Libyan oil. Al Megrahi was released last year on the grounds his prostrate cancer would kill him within three months. Last week, oncologist Dr Karol Sikora admitted al Megrahi “could live for another 10 years.”
